TKM Clubman Champs

TKM CLUBMAN CHAMPIONSHIP TO PROVIDE LOW COST RACING

Formula TKM has worked with drivers to create this regional championship for competitors racing in the TKM Extreme Clubman sub-class.

The TKM Extreme Clubman Regional Championship will be run over five rounds and is built around existing race meetings running the class to provide the drivers with their own low cost championship.

The championship is organised by the TKM class owners Tal-Ko, in direct response to requests from drivers for a series similar to that previously run for several years in the Midlands area.

Tal-Ko Racing has released provisional regulations for the TKM Clubman Regional Championship being held among five circuits in the Midlands area – two of them new for 2020.

The championship will start at Fulbeck where it will form part of the new TKM Spring Cup. It then follows its traditional path of Shenington Superprix, Maxxis TKM Festival and Rissington Midlands Championship before ending the year at PFI for the last round as part of Britain’s Finest.

Changes drafted into the new regulations in response to driver requests include:

  • Points for both the grid of the final and the final result. These will be totalled. This helps drivers who have had a great day until it comes to the final and is simple to achieve.
  • Free gearing for all events.
  • Maximum slick tyre tread depths for all events except Kimbolton – where new control tyres must be used.

Announcing the details TKM boss Alan Turney explained: “We were pleased to see the regional championship well supported in 2019. We had a clear request from the drivers to try some other circuits and we are delighted to have brought in Fulbeck and PFI. We will certainly want to include Clay again but the dates didn’t quite work this time. “

Rounds of the TKM Clubman Regional Championship are provisionally as follows:

Round 1:  March 21/22           Fulbeck TKM Spring Cup

Round 2:  July 18/19              Shenington Superprix

Round 3:  August 8/9             Kimbolton Maxxis TKM Festival

Round 4:  September 5/6      Rissington Midlands Champs

Round 5:  October 3/4           PFI Britain’s Finest

In the spirit of TKM Clubman regulations, drivers will race on used tyres apart from at the Maxxis TKM Festival event. Drivers will be able to simultaneously race and score points in the circuit club championship as well as this regional Clubman championship.
