REGULATIONS PUBLISHED FOR
MAXXIS FORMULA TKM FESTIVAL AT WHILTON MILL
Regulations have now been published for this year’s top event
in the Formula TKM calendar – the Maxxis Formula TKM Festival,
once again being held at Whilton Mill.
The Northamtonshire circuit has been chosen again in light of
the continuing planning problems at Kimbolton – the long time
host of the event – which makes Friday testing impossible.
As the largest single make event in the UK, the Festival once
again offers the widest possible choice of racing for drivers of
every skill level from novices right through to ultra
experienced national stars.
TKM 2-stroke and 4-stroke classes are catered for in both Junior
and Senior category. In addition there are also special classes
for Veterans and Heavies within the TKM Extreme 2-stroke senior
category, which will race in separate heats from the main group
subject to sufficient numbers.
New this year will be a Whilton Mill inspired change to the
format whereby the timed qualifying sessions for every class
will then be used to format the grids with the fastest at the
front. In addition the international format being used will
ensure the drivers race against the widest number of other
competitors possible in the largest multi-grid classes.
Over the race Saturday/Sunday, every driver gets a minimum of a
test, timed practice, three heats, a pre-final and final making
the event superb value for money. TKM class tyre suppliers
Maxxis will again sponsor the event, which will feature top
class TV coverage and the sale of inexpensive post event DVDs.
The race days are August 8/9 with testing all day Friday and
parking up from the Thursday. There is no use of mandatory fuel
or tyres. The weekend will also include a special bar-b-cue and
novelty events. Once again there will be quality awards and
gifts for every driver competing.
Last year it was a novice in his first ever race meeting who
came within a whisker of a top title and won the Bernie Turney
Memorial trophy as the most outstanding driver, underlining the
chance it offers novices with true ability to shine.
Says Alan Turney of Tal-Ko Racing, controllers of the Formula
TKM classes: “With this being our 20th year of Formula TKM
2-stroke and with Jenson Button, one of our former national
title winning drivers looking like taking the driver’s world
championship, we want this to be a very special event.”
Regulations and entry forms can be downloaded as a PDF below or
obtained by sending a stamped addressed A5 envelope to Rita
Chapman, 23 Foxglove Close, Castle Meadow, Buckingham MK18 1FU.
Full details of the timetable are also given on the
Whilton Mill
website.
